What is realtime reporting?
Realtime is achieved by a special software in the court reporter's laptop which receives the steno feed from the reporter's steno machine. This CAT software instantaneously translates the steno notes into English, producing a rough-draft transcript which can be read from the reporter's computer screen, or immediately passed on to the attorney via "rough ASCII disk" at the conclusion of the proceedings, or right onto the attorney's laptop simultaneously through realtime software.
What are realtime reporters?
A realtime reporter is a court reporter who has honed their skills to write at 98% accuracy or better, and uses the most up-to-date technology to produce an instant, accurate transcript. When you have a realtime reporter covering your deposition, you can be sure that they are experienced, skilled, and will produce a quality transcript every time.
Benefits of using realtime and rough ASCIIS:
- Walk away from the deposition with a rough draft of the transcript already in your computer for preparing upcoming depositions without waiting for the final copy.
- Search through the transcript seconds or hours after something is said.
- Highlight important text as it's scrolling for following up on questioning later in the deposition.
- Focus on the questions you need to ask while having your notes taken for you automatically, so you can leave your pen on the table.
